New Pastor Joins Longford, Roscommon, and Sligo District of Churches

A new chapter begins for the Longford, Roscommon, and Sligo District of Churches as Pastor Tiago Rossendy steps into his role, ready to lead and inspire both church members and the wider community. He was warmly introduced to his new congregations by Pastor Adam Keough, President of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Ireland, during his official pastoral installations, which took place at Longford (10 May), Roscommon (17 May), and Sligo (24 May) Seventh-day Adventist churches.

Originally from Brazil, Pastor Tiago brings a rich background in ministry. He served for six years in pastoral ministry in his home country before moving to Alabama, USA, where he pastored two congregations. Currently, he is finishing his Master of Divinity at Andrews University. He is married to Thalita, and together they have two young children, Emilie and Ethan.

A Lifelong Calling and Vision for Ministry

His calling to ministry began early in life, inspired by the love and dedication of his local church pastor and the involvement of his family in church life. “From an early age, I felt called to this mission, and I never saw myself doing anything else. For me, ministry has never been just a profession—it’s a calling to love, to serve, and to lead with humility,” he shared.

Pastor Tiago brings a clear vision for his ministry: “My hope is to help build a church community that is vibrant, welcoming, and rooted in the love of Christ. I want to see young people engaged and families feeling supported. I pray that the churches in Longford, Roscommon, and Sligo can be places where people from all backgrounds encounter God’s grace, find healing, and grow in faith together.”

A Return to Ireland

Ireland holds a special place in Pastor Tiago’s heart. He first came to Ireland in 2012 to study English but soon became deeply involved in church life. “I had the incredible privilege of being part of the core team that planted the Drumcondra Church in Dublin,” he recalled. His time in Ireland also included volunteering at Drumcondra Church, participating in the Zachariah Project as a Bible worker (organised by Ranelagh Church), and it was also on this beautiful island that he met his wife, Thalita.

“Living in Ireland was a very meaningful chapter in my life from 2012 to 2015,” Pastor Tiago reflected. “It was a time of deep personal and ministerial growth. Returning now as a pastor is a mix of joy, gratitude, and humility. I feel a deep sense of responsibility and privilege to now serve the people who once helped shape my journey with God.”

He also noted how the Irish Mission has grown since he was last here: “Some things have changed, like how connected the churches are through technology and how diverse the communities have become. But what remains the same is the warmth and resilience of the people. There’s still a beautiful openness to fellowship and a deep hunger for God.”

When asked what excites him most about his return, Pastor Tiago shared: “I’m looking forward to building relationships—getting to know the people, their stories, and their dreams for the future. I’m also excited to see how God will work in this new season, both in the churches and in my own family. We come with open hearts, ready to serve and grow together with the Irish Mission family.”

Life Beyond the Pulpit

Outside of ministry, Pastor Tiago enjoys spending time with his family. “I love going on bike rides with Emilie, playing with Ethan, and taking peaceful walks with Thalita,” he shared. He also loves reading biographies and books on spiritual growth and has recently taken up pickleball as a fun way to stay active and connect with others.

A Message of Encouragement

As Pastor Tiago steps into this new season, he’s filled with anticipation for what God will do in the churches and in his own family. He leaves the Irish Mission family with a message of encouragement, grounded in his favorite Bible verse:

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.” (Isaiah 41:10)

“Let’s walk together in faith, supporting one another and keeping our eyes on Jesus as we await His soon return,” he said.
