Churches Unite in Roscommon for Worship, Baptism, and Mission Emphasis
On April 11, members from the Roscommon, Sligo, and Longford churches gathered in Roscommon for a special day of fellowship and worship. Centered on the theme “Love Your Neighbour: Reaching Our Community Like Jesus,” the event brought together believers from across the district for a full and meaningful Sabbath program.

The morning began with Sabbath School classes and a time of worship through song. A special musical item by Amerson Fortunato, Director of Hope Media Ireland, prepared hearts for the message that followed. Pastor Adam Keough, President of the Irish Mission, delivered a sermon based on the parable of the Good Samaritan, highlighting a key insight: “It is easier to love our neighbour when we know their story.” He emphasized the importance of asking questions and truly listening, reminding the congregation that even Jesus, though He knew people’s lives, took time to hear their stories, drawing them closer to Him.

Following the sermon, a joyful baptism of the couple Denis Ferreira and Sandra de Oliveira was conducted by Pastor Tiago Rossendy, pastor of the three congregations. This special moment was a powerful reminder of lives being transformed through faith.

The congregation then shared a fellowship lunch before reconvening for an afternoon program rich in music and reflection. Special songs were presented in different languages, beautifully reflecting the multicultural identity of the Adventist Church in Ireland.

The afternoon also included a presentation by Aftab Barki, Treasurer of the Irish Mission, who explained the meaning and purpose of tithes and offerings, and how these funds support the work within the Irish Mission. Amerson Fortunato returned to share about the mission of Hope Media Ireland, outlining its focus on ten dimensions of wellbeing and inviting churches to become involved in its outreach initiatives.
The day concluded with a final reflection by Pastor Keough and a closing prayer offered by one of the young members of the Roscommon congregation.

Overall, the gathering was a meaningful time of spiritual growth, unity, and renewed focus on reaching others with the love of Christ.
