Farewell Pr Jacques Venter

Farewell Pr Jacques Venter

On this life’s journey we are afforded the privilege of companionship and togetherness, a privilege that is often of a temporary nature. This is evident in ministry where partnerships are rarely long-term. Pastors come and go and so do church administrators. Even though we tend to have short memory, or maybe because of that, we should always take time to express gratitude for a job well done and to the people who have impacted our lives in meaningful and lasting ways. This is why I wish to express my sincerest thanks to my colleague and friend Pr Jacques Venter for his dedicated, professional, and Spirit-filled service given to the Irish Mission as Executive Secretary.

It would be easy to highlight his many notable contributions to the growth and spiritual stability of our Mission, but I would rather mention some of his God-given and prayerfully nurtured qualities: Pr Jacques has demonstrated a level-headed and calm approach in difficult situations, his patience and spiritual take on even the most mundane circumstances has been an inspiration, and his willingness to take on the many tasks presented with ensured the moving forward of many of our projects. Pr Jacques is a reader, a sharer, and a leader through-and-through. We are thankful for what God has done through him in our Mission and confident that the Lord will continue to bless his ministry as he continues to carry out his responsibilities at the British Union Conference and the Scottish and Welsh Missions.

“May the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge, reward you fully for what you have done”—Ruth 2:12.
