Aftab Barki, the Assistant Treasurer of the British Union Conference (BUC), was also recently appointed as the designated Treasurer for the Seventh-day Adventist in Ireland.  The appointment was created to support the growth in memberships, projects and programmes in the Irish Mission (IM) and its additional administrative needs.

Aftab was born in Pakistan to an Adventist family. On completing high school, he continued his education by studying accountancy at Newbold College. After graduating in 2007, he worked for the South England Conference (SEC) for ten years before he joined the BUC. Aftab is no stranger to the IM having worked with all three Missions in his current role at the BUC.

When asked about his new role with the Irish Mission, he siad, “I’m blessed and privileged to be entrusted with this role. The Treasury and Stewardship ministries will work together to strengthen the financial procedures across the Irish Mission. This strategy will help us to focus on local congregations, creating a spiritual environment that contributes to growth and the wellbeing of every church member. The financial strategy for the Irish Mission will be based on three anchors: the local member, the local church and the local field. This financial strategy will help us to achieve the vision of the Irish Mission: -  Establish. Empower. Engage.”

Aftab is married to Jasmine and has an eight-year-old daughter Aniyah.
