St Patricks Day 2022

Discover Truth Ministry

St Patricks Day 2022

St Patrick’s Day – the celebration of everything Irish – presented a perfect opportunity for the Discover Truth ministry to polish up a literary gem and share it with the people of the Emerald Isle.

The Celtic Connection, written by David Marshall (former editor of The Messenger Magazine), was revised, and revamped just in time for this year’s festivities. Pr. Christian Salcianu and his team, supported by Stanborough Press, worked to create the new look edition that has been well accepted by the Irish public. This booklet tells the story of the beginnings of Christianity in Ireland and Britain. It also shares how Patrick, and the other early missionaries, kept the Sabbath and used the Bible as their standard of truth.

The plan was to distribute these booklets to friends, colleagues and neighbours in the week leading up to St Patrick’s Day, and then to distribute them at the various St. Patrick’s Day parades.

The willing hearts and hands of the Ballinacrow Pathfinders in Newbridge, Co. Wicklow.

We are happy to report that the plan was implemented with much success as The Celtic Connection booklets were distributed at parades in 14 counties! Carlow, Clare, Cork, Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Limerick, Longford, Mayo, Offaly, Wexford, and Wicklow.

A total of 43 towns in Ireland have had this booklet distributed in them. Praise the Lord for blessing the work in Ireland!

Pastor Tony O’Rourke gave this wonderful testimony: “We had a very enthusiastic multicultural team here in the West of Ireland involved in the evangelistic outreach on St. Patricks Day. The good weather contributed to many warm interactions with the public on the streets.

One of our team members, Tommy Mulveen, had a very interesting encounter with the Galway Co. Councillors and Dignitaries as they took their places on the Viewing Platform in Eyre Square, Galway City. Each one received a copy of the booklet believing it was the official programme for the day.

Later in the afternoon Tommy had the privilege of meeting the dignitaries again and explaining the contents of the booklet to them. He also distributed extra copies, at their request, to those who had not received them earlier.

Overall, the public response was positive with very few people refusing to take a copy of the Celtic Connection. Due to Covid restrictions over the past 2 years this was the first opportunity that our church members had to be actively involved in street evangelism and connecting with the general public again.”

This testimony shows that Irish Mission members are willing to work for the Lord sharing truth with the people of Ireland, and the people of Ireland are accepting these gems.

The Dublin team made sure that every Guarda received a copy. “The perfect book for my son’s St Patrick’s project!” said one.
