Jefferson joined the Irish Mission pastoral team on 1 February as an intern pastor. He has been appointed as the Irish Mission Youth Sponsor, and the pastor for the Drumcondra Church in Dublin.

We wish him the Lord’s richest blessings as he relocates from England to Ireland. We welcome him and would like to assure him of our support and prayers in this new chapter of his life.

Pr. Dan Serb, IM President

I am Jefferson John Melki, the new Youth Sponsor and the Drumcondra Church intern in the Irish Mission. I graduated from Newbold College with B.A. and I’m currently completing an M.A. in Pastoral and Biblical Studies.

Born to two incredible south Indian parents, my loving mother is Biji John Melki currently working as a mental health nurse and my amazing father is John Melki, a South England Conference pastor and Area 8 coordinator. I have a younger sister, Jaine Steffi, who is studying medicine at Sofia University in Bulgaria.

My love for young people started as I began to see that they were unmotivated in their Christian life. They did not believe they were part of Christ's body. The Church's culture created an image that they ought to follow specific standards of the Church or that their individuality or gifts and aspirations are considered meaningless.

I never intended to be a pastor, but in the SEC camp meeting in June 2014, I had an amazing experience with God. Since then, I've been walking with this firm conviction to encourage the young individual "do not be discouraged because you are valuable and unique in the eyes of the supreme God".

During my time at Newbold, God helped me bring the young people out of suicidal thoughts, drugs, alcohol, and various others that caused damage to soul and body. In those short years of evangelism, few became preachers and active church members.

Therefore, I firmly believe God's calling on me is to be a disciple and make disciples for Christ.
