Christmas 2020... Can we overcome all the challenges? How to do the fundraising if we are not going to church and we do not meet face to face? Then there is the shopping and the enormous task of wrapping the gifts? How can we do the official handover? And so many more challenges. God was leading us again...

I believe that no one will forget the weird time during 2020. Everything changed, including the way we were involved in our local communities and even the way we were going to church. Something that was so normal is suddenly gone.

At the beginning of the pandemic, we decided to support our partnering organisation Focus Ireland. Each week, during April – July, we were able to organise food supplies for their customers in Cork. Since May we have supported a young man in Clonmel with weekly food supplies. Recently we were asked to do the same for 6 poor families in Tralee. With God’s grace we are able to help them all. All the praise belongs to God.

For the past 2 years, we organised Christmas Family Hampers for the poor in our community. This year we wanted to do the same, but could we overcome all the challenges. How to do the fundraising if we are not going to church and we do not meet face to face? Then there is the shopping and the enormous task of wrapping the gifts? How can we do the official handover? And so many more challenges. God was leading us again. He always provides.

We announced on the Zoom every Sabbath from October to the end of November. We were amazed when we have counted all the donations. We did it again! So for 3 years in a row now we could help our local communities of Cork, Kilkenny, Waterford and Tralee. Between the four churches, we were able to provide almost 200 Christmas Family Hampers. That means we could help more than 400 people to have nicer Christmas.

Each year we are surprised where God led us. For the last 3 years, since starting ACS Cork, God has opened so many doors for us. Starting in little canteen for homeless people, collecting clothes and toys for kids in need, Shoe Boxes for homeless kids and now finishing with weekly food supplies across South Ireland during COVID, preparing Family Hampers… What will we do next year 2021?

‘’So, let us learn how to serve,
And in our lives enthrone Him
Each other’s needs to prefer
For it is Christ we’re serving.’’
