Adventist Church in Longford Shares Hope with the Community
In the heart of Ireland lies the region of Longford, home to around 47,000 people. The Seventh-day Adventist Church has been present in the area, seeking to promote community wellbeing through spiritual and social initiatives. On Sabbath, August 30, church members gathered at the Longford Shopping Centre to connect with the community by offering smiles, words of encouragement, and even free hugs. Alongside these gestures of care, literature such as Steps to Christ was distributed to remind people that they are never alone and that Christ is always present in their lives.

The outreach resulted in several meaningful encounters. Some individuals shared personal challenges, expressing gratitude for the support they received. A family approached the group saying: “We have been reading the Bible at home, but we don’t really understand it. Would you be willing to teach us the Bible?” Contact details were exchanged, opening the door for future Bible studies. Another passerby shared his search for a place of worship, remarking: “You seem like a warm community to be around. We would like to join you.” Encounters like these highlighted the spiritual hunger present in the region and the opportunities for the church to minister.
The Longford Adventist Church continues to ask for prayers for the growth of its mission. Members hope that more people in the region will come to know Christ and prepare for His return, a day when, as they believe, every believer will be united with Jesus Christ.
