Evangelism

Our Mission

The Evangelism Department of the Irish Mission exists to empower leaders, foster unity, and nurture healthy faith communities, while cultivating a culture of Healthy Evangelism across Ireland.

What Is Healthy Evangelism?

Healthy Evangelism is not about doing more events—it’s about doing mission with purpose, people, and the presence of Christ at the centre. It is relational, intentional, and deeply rooted in Jesus’ way of reaching people.

This is a discipleship-driven approach that values:

  • Relationships over results

  • People over programs

  • Sustainability over short-term success

At its core, Healthy Evangelism is:

  • Christ-Centred – Anchored in the life and teachings of Jesus

  • Relational – Built on trust, conversation, and compassion

  • Contextual – Sensitive to culture and setting

  • Sustainable – Long-term and transformative

  • Inclusive – Everyone has a part to play

  • Wellbeing-Focused – Ministering to the whole person: body, mind, and spirit

📖 “The strongest argument in favor of the gospel is a loving and lovable Christian.”
—  EGW, The Ministry of Healing, p. 470

📖 “Christ’s method alone will give true success… He mingled, showed sympathy, ministered to needs, won confidence, then invited, ‘Follow Me.’”
— EGW, Ministry of Health & Healing, p. 734

Healthy Evangelism is not a method—it’s a movement. It calls every believer to be salt and light in their everyday life, living out the gospel wherever they go.

Our Strategy: Four Strategic Priorities

As a department, we are focused on four foundational priorities to shape our evangelism culture:

1. Empowering Leaders

📖 “Where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in an abundance of counselors there is safety.” Proverbs 11:14
We equip leaders to multiply disciples, cast vision, and lead with confidence and purpose.

2. Fostering Unity

📖 “May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me.” John 17:23
Collaboration over competition. We strengthen partnerships between churches, departments, and organizations to present a united witness.

3. Building Strong Faith Communities

📖 “Accept one another, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.” Romans 15:7
Evangelism grows in healthy, grace-filled communities. We focus on nurturing spaces of belonging, trust, and spiritual growth.

4. Branding and Positioning

📖 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Matthew 5:14
We help churches present a clear, authentic identity that resonates with today’s Ireland—ensuring Adventism is visible, relevant, and engaging.

Evangelism Sponsor

Pastor Damieon Dillan Lewis is passionate about evangelism and committed to advancing the gospel in meaningful, contextual ways. He has served as a featured evangelist in numerous campaigns and as a mission strategist for hard-to-reach areas, bringing vision and boldness to every opportunity.

Born on the island of Carriacou, his first home was a small parsonage behind the Hillsborough Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he was raised by missionary parents. From an early age, he sensed God’s call to ministry and embraced a life devoted to sharing Jesus.

His ministry is shaped by a heart for discipleship, spiritual growth, and building vibrant, faith-filled communities that reflect the love and mission of Christ.

On August 17, 2023, he accepted the call to serve in the Irish Mission, where he currently pastors two multicultural congregations and leads the evangelism portfolio for the field—developing strategies, nurturing leaders, and championing a vision of Healthy Evangelism across Ireland.

He is married to Trudy (née Bowrin), a charitable and hospitable professional whose warmth and generosity enrich every space she enters. Together, they raise their son Jaheim, a gifted athlete with a compassionate spirit and a heart for others.
